The town of Cambridge is ten minutes away, with a pre-civil war, Victorian inspired downtown, and countless restaurants and shops. It’s not much further to visit the Maryland towns of Oxford, Easton, or Saint Michael's to walk the streets, take in the restaurants, or visit art shops and galleries. On the property: relax! Go no further than the shoreline to find great swimming, crabbing, fishing, sunning, or boating. The sandy beaches are a luxury all year long, and the heated pool provides for a warm swim during those colder days and nights in May and September/October**. Endless porches and a stone fire pit is the centerpiece for many nighttime get-togethers. In the neighborhood: bike or walk down the neighborhood's 'private' peninsula and enjoy marvelous sunrises and sunsets among the finest of Maryland's summer and weekend retreats. TO DO! INDOORS And that’s just the outdoors. Indoors we have 6/7 bedrooms on three floors, and every bedroom has a view of water or pool. The four bedrooms on the 2nd floor all have TVs. There are literally five separate living/rec rooms to entertain or get away from the family or group. Most of them overlook the waterfront. It has a huge dining area and open kitchen; the main room downstairs is almost 1,000sf of open space! But it remains cozy. The second floor has four bedrooms and laundry. The third has two bedrooms and large rec room with foosball, ping pong and a TV area. When kids are present it’s the ideal floor for them to “own”. It’s even sound-insulated (we did that for our three kids ;) Our guests often tell us their activities at the house were the main benefit of their trip. PLANNING FOR FUN Recreation is the one thing we have plenty-of. Planning to fish, charter a captained boat or rent a boat or watersports equipment? We’ll help. Planning to play golf? Make tee times at the fabulous Hyatt course just 15 minutes away - or one of the 20 great courses within an hour’s drive. Not to mention the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is just 15 minutes from your door. The list is long! Restaurants: Downtown Cambridge just 10 minutes away boasts over a dozen great spots for adults and families. Easton? 30 minutes and 50 more great spots – both towns boasting several waterfront places to dine. We have a great restaurant guide for you. Cambridge and the close-in area have so many, but nearby towns make the list way longer than you can choose from. Shopping: Food, artisan items, antiques and Chesapeake items are all available in town or in the nearby towns including St. Michaels – we have a guide for that as well. Our produce stores are much more than that and our guests love them. Tourism: Cambridge is famous for a great gentrifying pre-civil war downtown, the Harriet Tubman Visitor Center and Museum, Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge and more. Season starts in Spring and there are downtown events including sailing trips and farmers markets every week. The area includes fishing villages out of a Herman Melville novel, and towns like Oxford, Easton and St. Michaels to keep you busy with history, food and shopping. And the ocean beaches are just an hour away! Guest Access: We provide a door lock code for you the day of your stay - easy to arrange and no pressure about meeting on time. Check in is 4pm and check out is 10:30am unless other arrangements are possible and made in writing, thanks. Interaction with Guests: While we offer self contact-less check-in for your convenience, we are only ever a message away should you need anything at all during your stay. The Neighborhood: The unique, secluded neighborhood consists of a single, mile-long road on its own peninsula with Dorchester's finest homes, stretching far into the Little Choptank River. The quiet street invites scenic bike rides or long walks to watch the sunsets. The waterfront home, "Saddle Beach" is on a 2-mile exclusive peninsula lined with custom, luxury homes. McKeil Point; considered the county's prestigious community. Our serene strip of beach-lined properties juts out into the Little Choptank River. Incredibly rural, yet only 10 minutes from town. Your vista is miles across the Chesapeake Bay right from our top floor. Getting Around: Our street is a 2 mile peninsula surrounded by water! You can walk to great places but you'll also need a car. Our property has so much to do before you ever need to go elsewhere. We provide plenty of bikes, boats and more for your use. Our town of Cambridge is just 15 minutes away.
