Just minuets from downtown Raton and Sugarite State Park with 3 lakes, camping, hiking, fishing and gorgeous views . Tour the foundations and trails of the old Sugarite mining town ruins. Sugarite borders Colorado and allows access to another lake and hiking as well. Eighteen miles to Trinidad, 1 hour to Eagle's Nest, 1.5 hours to Taos and Red River. Two hours to Colorado Springs, 3 to Denver and Albuquerque. Excellent base-camp to explore the New Mexico and Colorado Rockies.
